I came across this trailer today and it struck a nerve with me. Being in the Fitness industry pretty much my entire career, getting a bachelors degree in Exercise Science and a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine, not to mention countless continuing education both taken and taught, I've had my share of information sifted through my mind. I know the body and how it works pretty well... I understand anatomy and physiology, I understand training protocol of many forms, I understand diseases and dysfunction, I understand nutrition and health... at least the way that I've been taught.
A year ago I was diagnosed with Diabetes. Everyone that I tell this typically makes the comment "You don't look like you would have Diabetes". Probably not. Since my Diagnosis, I have been lucky enough to become friends with Greg and Gracie Stevenson. Greg was also diagnosed a number of years back who has developed a Diabetes Bootcamp in Sedona. If you are interested or know of someone who might benefit from it here is more information... http://thehikehouse.com/diabetic-boot-camp He has been a great source of information to me. Oddly, most of what I've learned over the years has been skewed and relatively inaccurate on nutrition. The low fat thing is pretty much crap. The food guide pyramid is pretty much crap. A pyramid that was created off of a bad study to save someones ass. What MANY of your doctors tell you is pretty much crap, at least in terms of what "good" numbers are for your A1C, as well as how to get them to where they should be... covering their asses.
This video struck a nerve not because I think it's bad, but the exact opposite... because it is right on the money. We are slowly killing people because of the lack of knowledge... because of addiction... because of generations of misinformation. I worry about my daughter because of what is "normal" nutrition. Even when eating "good", most people's carbohydrates are through the roof. I look back on how I ate "clean"... beans and rice... huge carbohydrate numbers. Almost everyone I watch does the same. Ultimately, carbs are sugars too. Take it from a diabetic that has to watch and figure out these numbers on a regular basis.
Fed up is a nice category for many things these days... not just food. Don't always believe what you're told. Always ask why. Look deeper than what's on the surface. Just because your information fits your belief doesn't mean that it is always right, it's just different.
Peace to you all.
Until tomorrow...
